There are so many ways that you can turn trash into treasure. I recently came across an old bed frame at a flea market and thought that it would make a wonderful DIY project. The only problem was that I didn’t quite know what DIY project I wanted to do. So, I started looking for creative ways to upcycle old bed frames. I found 15 of the most adorable things that you can make from wood and metal bed frames, and all of these are really simple DIY repurpose projects.
Repurposing is in my blood. I love nothing more than taking something that seems like trash and turning it into home décor or furniture. I haven’t quite determined which of these bed frame repurposing ideas I plan to do, but I wanted to share all of them with you. You can honestly turn just about anything into something new.
Repurposing furniture is a great idea. Not only do you get new things but you save yourself a bit of money over throwing that old furniture out. And if you don’t have any old furniture to use, you can always visit flea markets or your local thrift stores and find them pretty cheap. These bed frame ideas can be done with really inexpensive old bed frames, that you can probably pick up at a thrift store for $20 or less. Imagine getting a beautiful new garden bench or an organizational shelf for under $20. You just can’t beat repurposing for adding cheap yet invaluable items to your home.
1. Repurposed Bed Frame Garden Bench
In about eight hours you can turn that old metal or wooden bed frame into a gorgeous bench for your garden. I love this idea! Not only do you get to repurpose that bed frame, you get a lovely bench that will add the perfect focal point to your flower garden or patio. This makes a wonderful sitting bench or you can turn it into a lovely bench for holding your potted plants.
2. DIY Pull Behind Cargo Trailer
Believe it or not, you can even turn that old bed frame into a pull behind cargo trailer for hauling just about anything you want to haul. This is a great little trailer for hauling rocks and other debris around the yard and it is super easy to make. You use an old bed frame as the basic frame and then add other repurposed materials like wheels from an old bike and other scrap metal pieces.
